These are products liability actions arising out of an automobile accident which occurred on March 24, 1971, on U.S. Highway 64 in McNairy County, Tennessee. Petitioner, Mrs. Dean Browder, filed a complaint against the Ford Motor Company and a retail Ford dealer, James Pettigrew, d/b/a Pettigrew Motor Company, alleging that she had sustained personal injuries in a one-car accident caused by the collapse of the A-frame supporting the right front wheel of the 1971 model Mach I Mustang automobile in which she was riding as a passenger. The complaint charges the defendants with negligence, expressly relying on the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur; breach of express and implied warranties; strict liability in tort; and tortious misrepresentation based on public advertising.
